Just a quick one: Joost shuts down its global operations and focuses on the US only. Shame, I liked the idea of Joost. But in the end, it was brought down by two main factors that even a technologically smart way of streaming videos can’t solve: first: trying to buy global rights for content that [...]

There is a standard joke around online advertising managers about the fear of those “chinese villages” taking over one of your ad campaigns so that you receive the clicks you paid for, only all of them come from one and the same family (in China or India, or Eastern Europe or Antigua, etc. it doesn’t [...]

Adage published a “digital issue”, which seems to be completely accessible online. (Why wouldn’t it, anyway?) I haven’t read through the entire set of articles just yet, however there seem to be some interesting thoughts. Things like the 70/20/10 rule for marketing budgets, a short article about what the h*** are widgets, and a little [...]

The German DLD Conference (Digital, Life, Design) just started a few hours ago. The next 3 Days should be rather interesting, even for anybody not attending, because they are putting videos all sessions online. In addition, there is a blog with live blogging from the sessions.

As every year around this time, all sorts of sites start to publish trends. Along the many lists that get published (and some of which I will subsequently link to), there is one selfproclaimed “Uber”-List, an aggregation of links of the main sites with trends. These trends do not only concern marketing and advertising, [...]

Facebook, Facebook and Facebook again. Seems like you can’t get away from it. O’Reilly now published a report on the widget and application economy of Facebook and the long tail characteristics of which.
The report covers the following:
Sizes up the Facebook opportunity–who’s making money, and how?
Lays out best practices of marketing with Facebook Applications, aka Social [...]

Just finished the blogpost about Toyota and Burger King, when I found a post at the “off the record” blog listing video clips of brands filmed in World of Warcraft, Second Life and GTA (so called machinima):
Toyota in World of Warcraft
Coke in World of Warcraft
Coke in Secondlife
Coke in GTA:
Thanks for the tip!
