Don’t let the Q button become a trend…

OK, another German site, but the idea behind this can be tested by anyone. quelle.de has a script on it’s website that opens the “what’s new” page (including a video with the “news-cast” - an advert) when you press the Q button, no matter where you are on the site.
Now that in itself is a good idea. But what happens if everyone does it? Wouldn’t you get totally confused about which buttons you can press without opening things and being diverted?
It’s a good idea, as I said, but they are introducing a new quasi-standard of buttons for websites that might in the long term confuse users…
